High Support – Chapter 766

Chapter 766 schools (now Mass general law Ch 71B) are DESE (Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education) approved for an out of district placement when a student is not able to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE) in their home district.

They are children who need a small, supportive environment with embedded language-based support throughout their day while they are with peers who learn like they do.
